The annual pre-acceptance audit is a three-year rolling programme for organisations producing over 5 tonnes of hazardous healthcare waste per annum. This programme is put into operation in the year following the initial whole-site audit, where practice is deemed satisfactory overall.

The audit comprises a review of documentation (waste transfers), current segregation practices, containment systems, training, tracking and security. The auditor will visit and audit one-third of the site where healthcare waste is produced each year, such that the whole site is captured over part of a three-year period.

A site visit is required. A final report is provided to the client in electronic format.
